The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. Reginald Armour, S.C., moved the second reading of The Municipal Corporations (Extension of Terms of Office and Validation) Bill, 2023. Debate began on the bill with five members making contributions before the Attorney General rose to conclude. The bill was then committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. The bill was approved with amendments. The bill was read a third time and passed.
The Member for St. Augustine, Ms. Khadijah Ameen, raised a matter on the adjournment regarding the response of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services in the presentation of disaster relief grants to the people of St. Augustine. The Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Sen. the Hon. Donna Cox, responded.
The Member for Chaguanas West. Mr. Dionesh Rambally, MP, raised a matter on the adjournment namely the need for the Government to take immediate action to provide financial and infrastructural support to farmers and farming communities often affected by flooding. The Minister in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Sen. the Hon. Richie Sookhai, responded.
