Six urgent questions were posed before time for urgent questions expired.
Eight questions qualified for oral answer.
Dr. Roodal Moonilal, MP, made a request for leave to move the adjournment of the House on a definite matter of urgent public importance namely the failure of the Government to effectively address the collapsed sea bridge between Trinidad and Tobago. The Speaker was not satisfied that this matter qualified under Standing Order 17.
Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, made a statement regarding rapidly developing critical enquiries and investigations before, inter alia, the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee of the House of Commons in the United Kingdom and the United State of America Senate Judicial Committee.
The Leader of House moved a motion to allow an extension of four (4) weeks to the Special Select Committee appointed to consider the Selection Process for the Offices of Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Police, in order to complete its work and submit a final report by April 27, 2018. This motion was approved.
Motions to allow an extension of three (3) months to the JSC on the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Bill and the JSC on the Cybercrime Bill, 2017, in order for the Committees to complete their work and submit a final report by June 29, 2018 were also moved and approved.
The Prime Minister moved a motion to approve the notification of nomination of Ms. Bliss Seepersad as a member of the Police Service Commission. Dr. Roodal Moonilal, MP, contributed to the debate after which the Prime Minister wound up the debate. The motion was approved.
The House brought greetings to the nation on the occasions of Shouter Baptist Liberation Day and Easter. The Sitting concluded at 3:51 p.m. The House adjourned to a date to be fixed.
