Three urgent questions were posed and answered.
Twelve questions qualified for oral answer. Questions #149 and #150 were withdrawn. All other questions were answered.
The Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, sought leave to move the adjournment of the House on a definite matter of urgent public importance, namely, the Government’s implementation of the mass public vaccination programme. The Speaker of the House was satisfied that this matter qualified under Standing Order 17. The House agreed and the matter was stood down until 6 p.m.
The Finance (Supplementation and Variation of Appropriation) (Financial Year 2021) Bill, 2021 was introduced in the name of the Minister of Finance, who moved that the next stage of the bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.
The Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, moved a motion that the House adopt the report of the Standing Finance Committee of the House of Representatives for the First Session (2020/2021), Twelfth Parliament on the consideration of proposals for the Supplementation and Variation of Appropriation for the fiscal year 2021. Debate began on the motion. The debate was suspended to allow debate on the definite matter.
Opposition Leader, Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, S.C., MP, raised the matter of the Government’s implementation of the mass public vaccination programme. The Minister of Health responded.
The debate on the motion to adopt the report of the Standing Finance Committee resumed. The Motion was approved
The Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, moved the second reading of The Finance (Supplementation and Variation of Appropriation) (Financial Year 2021) Bill, 2021. The bill was read a third time and passed.
