The Cannabis Control Bill, 2020, which was passed in the House of Representatives on April 29, 2022, was read a first time in the name of the Attorney General, who moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. The Senate agreed. The Sexual Offences (Amendment)(No.2) Bill, 2021 was read a first time in the name of the Attorney General.

The Leader of Government Business moved that Standing Order 43 (1) no longer stand suspended and the time limit for speeches in debate be restored. The Senate agreed.
The Attorney General moved the second reading of the Cannabis Control Bill, 2020. 11 Members made contributions before debate was suspended.
Senator Mark raised as a Matter on the Motion for the adjournment of the Senate, The failure of the Government to lay in Parliament the Annual Reports on the operation of the Interception of Communications Act for the period 2018 to 2021. The Leader of Government Business responded on behalf of the Minister of National Security.
