Papers 1 and 2 were referred to the Public Accounts Committee and Papers 3 to 8 were referred to the Public Accounts (Enterprises) Committee. The Third Interim Report of the Joint Select Committee appointed to consider and report on the
Whistleblower Protection Bill, 2015 and the Report of the Joint Select Committee appointed to consider and report on the Family and Children Division Bill, 2016 were presented by Hon. Faris Al-Rawi. See the Order Paper for details.
Four Urgent questions were posed. All questions were answered. See the Order Paper for details.
There are twelve questions on notice for oral answer. Permissions was granted for answers to Questions #95 and #96 to be deferred for two (2) weeks. All other questions were answered. See the Order Paper for details.
Hon. Faris Al-Rawi moved a motion that the JSC appointed to consider and report on the Whistleblower Protection Bill 2015 be granted an extension of seven (7) weeks in order to complete its work and submit a report by June 17, 2016. The motion was approved.
Hon. Camille Robinson-Regis, MP moved a motion that Mrs. Glenda Jennings-Smith, MP be appointed to the Joint Select Committee on Social Srvices and Public Administration in lieu of Hon. Shamfa Cudjoe, MP. This motion was approved.
The Minister of Rural Development and Local Government moved a Motion asking the House to approve the draft of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (Local Government and Tobago House of Assembly) Order, 2016. Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan was first to enter the debate. The motion was approved.
Dr. Tim Gopeesingh, MP for Caroni East, raised as a matter on the adjournment the need to complete works on Raghunanan Road and Welcome Road that was started by the previous Government under the P.U.R.E. Programme of the Ministry of Works and Transport. Minister of Works and Transport, Hon. Fitzgerald Hinds, MP responded.
Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan, MP for Tabaquite, raised the issue of the quality of restoration done by WASA after roads have been dug up as well as the need for the replacement of water mains. Minister of Public Utilities, Hon. Brig. Gen. Ancil Antoine, MP, responded.
