Six questions qualified for oral answer. Questions #110, #111, #204 and #205 were deferred for two weeks.
The Attorney General moved the second reading of the Civil Asset Recovery and Management and Unexplained Wealth Bill, 2019. Debate began on the Bill. Following the debate, the Bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole Senate for consideration clause by clause. The Committee Stage of the Bill will resume at the next Sitting.
Sen. Anita Haynes raised a matter on the adjournment namely the need for the Government to explain the decision to abstain from the OAS resolution to provide humanitarian assistance to Venezuela. Sen. the Hon. Paula Gopee-Scoon responded.
Sen. Wade Mark raised a matter regarding the need for the Government to undertake an aggressive public awareness campaign to highlight the rights of children and to draw attention to the legislation and institutions of state established to protect children. Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Ayanna Webster-Roy, MP, responded.
