Extension to SSC

The Leader of Government Business, Sen. the Hon. Dr. Amery Browne, moved a motion that an extension be granted to the Special Select Committee appointed to consider and report on the Miscellaneous Provisions (Trial By Judge Alone) Bill, 2023 in order for the Committee to conclude its work and present a final report by June 27, 2023. The motion was approved.

The Miscellaneous Provisions (Establishment of the Borough of Diego Martin and Borough of Siparia) Bill, 2021

The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, moved the second reading of The Miscellaneous Provisions (Establishment of the Borough of Diego Martin and Borough of Siparia) Bill, 2021. 11 Senators made contributions before the Minister rose to conclude. The Bill was then referred to a Committee of the Whole to be considered clause by clause. The Bill was then read a third time and passed.

Matter On The Adjournment
Two Matters

Senator Mark raised as a matter on the Motion for the adjournment, “the need for the Government to allow migrant children to attend government schools or public schools.”  The Minister in the Ministry of Education, Hon. Lisa Morris-Julian, MP, responded.

Sen. Mark raised a second matter on the adjournment “the need for the Government to explain its decision to construct three HDC towers on Todd Street, San Fernando in the face of objections by the Town and Country Planning Division of the Ministry of Planning and Development and other stakeholders”. The Minister in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Adrian Leonce, MP,  responded.
