Leave of absence was granted to Hon. Shamfa Cudjoe, MP for Tobago West, Hon. Ayanna Webster-Roy, MP for Tobago East, Mr. Barry Padarath, MP for Princes Town and Mrs. Marlene McDonald, MP for Port of Spain South from today’s Sitting.
Two papers were laid in the names of the Minister of Finance and the Deputy Speaker. Paper 1 was referred to the Public Accounts (Enterprises) Committee. See Order Paper for details.
Three reports were presented.

Ten questions qualified for oral answer. Questions #61 and #62 were deferred for two weeks. See Order Paper for details.
The Acting Leader of the House raised a motion to allow an extension of six weeks to the JSC – Insurance 2016 in order for the Committee to complete its work and submit a report by April 28, 2017. The motion was approved. Another motion was raised to allow an extension of ten weeks to the JSC – Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Bill, 2016 in order for the Committee to complete its work and submit a report by May 19, 2017. The motion was approved.
Debate continued on the Indictable Offences (Pre-Trial Procedure) Bill, 2017. Debate adjourned on this Bill to the next Sitting.
The Minister of Finance moved the 2nd reading of the International Financial Organisations (Corporacion Andina de Fomento) Bill, 2017. Debate ensued on the Bill, following which it was referred to the Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. The Bill was read a third time and passed.
Dr. Tim Gopeesingh raised a matter on the adjournment with regards to the level of lead in the dump and closure of Beetham landfill. The Minister of Public Utilities responded.
