Senator Rohan Sinanan was appointed to the Statutory Instruments Committee in lieu of former Senator Hafeez Ali. Senator Wade Mark was appointed to the House Committee in lieu of former Senator Vasant Bharath.

Senator Wade Mark presented the fourth Interim Report of the Joint Select Committee appointed to consider and report on the Whistleblower Protection Bill, 2015.

As a follow up to a statement made by the Attorney General on November 13, 2015 regarding Caribbean Financial Action Task Force’s (CFATF) 4th round mutual evaluation process, Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP indicated at today’s Sitting that, based on the results of the evaluation, not enough was done since 2010 to achieve effective systems to address the threat of money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
As such, in his statement, Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, indicated actions taken by Government to achieve such systems including prioritization of a suite of legislation which must be amended or enacted to bring our country into technical complianace, quick movement by Government to complete the National Risk Assessment, an already established anti terrorism desk and convening ad-hoc multi agency task force to tackle deficiencies in anti-terrorism framework to name a few.
Leader of Government Business, Sen. the Hon. Franklin Khan moved a motion that Mr. Rohan Sinanan be appointed to the Joint Select Committees on Land and Physical Infrastructure and Social Services and Public Administration in lieu of Mr. Hafeez Ali. The motion was carried.
Debate commenced on the Family and Children Division Bill 2016. Senator Khadijah Ameen was first to enter the debate. Following the second reading of the Bill, the Bill was committed to the Committee of the Whole for consideration on a clause by clause basis. The Bill was passed with amendments.
