Government Business: Bills Second Reading
The Valuation of Land (Amendment) Bill, 2023

The Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, moved the second reading of The Valuation of Land (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Twelve senators contributed to the debate before the wind up by the Minister of Finance. The bill was then committed to a Committee of the Whole Senate for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. With 24 votes for, 6 votes against and no abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.

Matter On The Adjournment
Two Matters

Sen. Wade Mark raised a matter on the adjournment namely the need for the Government to provide a status report on the outstanding unaudited financial accounts of the Strategic Services Agency for the period 2009-2022. The Minister of National Security, Hon. Fitzgerald Hinds, MP, responded.

Sen. Paul Richards raised the second matter on the adjournment namely the need for the Government to address the high rate of student drop-out at both the primary and secondary school level. The Minister in the Ministry of Education, Hon. Lisa Morris-Julian, MP, responded.
