Leave of Absence

The Vice-President granted leave of absence to Senator Dr. Amery Browne, Senator Reginald Armour, SC and Senator Anthony Vieira. Sen. Ndale Young was appointed to replace the President of the Senate, who was Acting as President of the Republic. Mr. Augustus Thomas, Mr. Harvey Borris and Mr. John Heath were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Browne, Armour and Vieira respectively.

The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was read a first time in the name of the Attorney General. The Leader of Government Business moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings.

Matter On The Adjournment
Two Matters

Two matters were raised on the Motion for the adjournment of the Senate. Senator Charrise Seepersad raised the first matter on the need for the Government to provide a status report on legislation to guard against transfer pricing. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance responded. Senator Wade Mark raise the second matter regarding the failure of the Government to fully constitute boards of T&TEC, TGU, PowerGen and TSTT. The Minister of Public Utilities responded.
