Leave of Absence was granted to Sen. Daniel Solomon who is out of the country. Ms. Christlyn Moore was appointed to replace Sen. Solomon during this Sitting.

The Senate paid tribute to former Senator Rennie Dumas, who passed away on Sunday May 14, 2017. A minute of silence was observed.
The Bill, which was passed in the House of Representatives on the morning of May 12, 2017, was read a first time in the Senate in the name of the Minister of Finance. The Minister moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. This was approved.
