The Minister of Finance, Hon. Davendranath Tancoo, MP, made a statement on the operations of the National Insurance Board and its audited financial statements.
The Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Wilfred Nicholas Morris, MP, made a statement on the main outcomes of Trinidad and Tobago’s participation in the 50th regular meeting at the conference of Heads of CARICOM.
The Miscellaneous Provisions (FATF Compliance) Bill, 2026 was introduced in the name of the Minister of Finance. The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. John Jeremie, MP, moved that the next stage of the bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Barry Padarath, MP, moved a motion that the House consider Government Business instead of Private Member’s Business at this Sitting. The motion was approved.
The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. John Jeremie, moved the second reading of the Miscellaneous Provisions (FATF Compliance) Bill, 2026. Debate then began on the bill. Four members contributed to the debate before the wind up by the Attorney General. The bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. With 36 votes for, no votes against and no abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.
The Member for Arouca / Lopinot, Mr. Marvin Gonzales, MP, raised a matter on the adjournment regarding the number of issues raised in public domain with respect to the use of body cameras by police officers and law enforcement officers. The Minister of Homeland Security, Hon. Roger Alexander, MP, responded.
The Member for Diego Martin West, Mr. Hans Des Vignes, MP, raised a matter on the adjournment regarding the need for the repair of the Western Main Road. The Minister of Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Jearlean John, MP, responded.
