20th Sitting of the House of Representatives

Leave of Absence was granted to the following members:

- Hon. Anthony Garcia, MP for Arima, from today’s Sitting.
Nine Papers were laid in the names of the Minister of Finance, Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development. Papers 1 and 2 were referred to the Public Accounts (Enterprises) Committee and Papers 6-8 were referred to the Public Accounts Committee. See Order Paper and Supplemental Order Paper for details.
The second report of the Standing Finance Committee of the House of Representative for the First Session (2015/2016), Eleventh Parliament on the consideration of proposals for the Variation of Appropriation for the fiscal year 2016 was presented by the Minister of Finance.
According to the Standing Orders, at the second Sitting of each month, there will be a Prime Minister’s Question Time. As such, at this Sitting, the Prime Minister answered questions on payment to cane farmers, ISIS, illegal immigrants and Foreign Exchange to name a few. See the Order Paper for details.

The Minister of Finance introduced the Finance (Variation of Appropriation) (Financial Year 2016) Bill, 2016 at today’s Sitting and moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings.
The Minister of Finance moved a motion asking the House to adopt the Second Report of the Standing Finance Committee of the House of Representatives for the First Session (2015/2016), Eleventh Parliament on the consideration of proposals for the Variation of Appropriation for the fiscal year 2016. Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar is the first to enter the debate.
The Minister of Finance moved the second reading of the Finance (Variation of Appropriation) (Financial Year 2016) Bill, 2016. The Bill was read for a third time and passed.
