1st Extraordinary Sitting of the Senate
1st Session - 13th Republican Parliament
Leave of absence was granted to Sen. Melanie Roberts-Radgman, who is out of the country and to Sen. Deoroop Teemal, who is ill. Mr. Farai Masaisai and Ms. Zola Phillips were appointed temporary senators in their place.
Temporary senators Mr. Masaisai and Ms. Phillips took the oath of allegiance.
The President of the Senate, Sen. the Hon. Wade Mark, moved motions on the appointments of senators to Sessional Select Committees for the 1st Session – 13th Parliament. The motions were approved.

The Leader of Government Business, Sen. the Hon. Darrell Allahar, moved motions on the appointment of members to Joint Select Committees. The motions were approved.
The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. John Jeremie, SC, moved a motion to approve the Prisons (No. 2) Order, 2025. Sen. Faris Al Rawi, SC and Sen. Anthony Vieira, SC, made contributions before the Attorney General rose to wind up the debate. By a division of 23 for, none against and seven abstentions, the motion was approved.
Before adjourning, the Senate extended greetings to the nation in observance of Emancipation Day, to be held on August 1, 2025. The sitting ended at 4:13 p.m.
