The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2023 was introduced in the name of the Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, who moved that the next stage of the bill be taken forthwith. The motion was approved.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Camille Robinson-Regis, MP, moved the suspension of Standing Order 45(1) to allow a maximum of 60 minutes speaking time with no extension to mover and first responder of bill being considered. The motion was carried.
The Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, moved the second reading of The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2023. Twelve members contributed to the bill before the wind up by the Minister of Finance. The bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. Amendments were made and approved. With 22 votes for, 16 votes against and no abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.
The House paid tribute to Professor Brinsley Samaroo who passed away on July 9, 2023. Professor Samaroo served during the 2nd and 3rd Republic Parliaments. A minute of silence was observed.
