Leave of Absence was granted to Independent Senator, David Small, who is out of the country. Sen. Kriyaan Singh was appointed on a temporary basis to replace Sen. David Small in his absence.
The President of the Senate received correspondence from the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Esmond Forde, MP informing of the decision taken by the House of Representatives on Friday April 1st, 2016 to appoint Hon. Glenda Jennings-Smith, MP to serve on the JSC on Social Services and Public Administration in lieu of Hon. Shamfa Cudjoe.
Temporary Senator, Dr. Kriyaan Singh took his oath of allegiance.
The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property (Amendment) Bill, 2015 was brought from the House of Representatives in the name of the Minister of Finance.
Twenty-four (24) Papers were laid in the names of the Minister of Finance, the Attorney General, the Minister of Rural Development and Local Government and the Minister of Trade and Industry. See Order Paper and Supplemental Order Paper for details.

Sen. the Honourable Franklin Khan raised a matter under Standing Order 32 regarding statements made by Temporary Opposition Senator Gerald Ramdeen to the public on Thursday May 11, 2016. Sen Khan then proposed that this matter be referred to the Committee of Privileges. The President of the Senate was satisfied that a breach of privilege was made and the matter was referred to the Committee of Privileges for their consideration and report.
Senator Wade Mark made a request for leave to move the adjournment of the House on a definite matter of urgent public importance namely the failure of the Government to effectively address or deal with the intolerable and unprecedented rising tide of murder and homicide in the country. The President was not satisfied that this matter qualified under Standing Order 16.
Debate continued on the motion raised by Senator Wade Mark to condemn the actions of the Government in its dismissal of the Governor of Central Bank on December 24, 2015.
Senator Wade Mark raised as a matter on the adjournment the failure of the Housing Development Corporation to honor its commitment and the legimate expectations of several prospective homeowners in our country. The Minister of Housing and Urban Development responded.
Members of the Government, Opposition and Independent benches extended greetings to the Catholic Community in observance of Corpus Christi and to the National Community in observance of Arrival Day. The Sitting concluded at 6:50 p.m. The Senate adjourned to a date to be fixed.
