The President of the Senate received correspondence from the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Esmond Forde, MP informing of the decision taken by the House of Representatives on Friday April 1st, 2016 to appoint Hon. Glenda Jennings-Smith, MP to serve on the JSC on Social Services and Public Administration in lieu of Hon. Shamfa Cudjoe.

Breach of Privilege: Gerald Ramdeen

Sen. the Honourable Franklin Khan raised a matter under Standing Order 32 regarding statements made by Temporary Opposition Senator Gerald Ramdeen to the public on Thursday May 11, 2016. Sen Khan then proposed that this matter be referred to the Committee of Privileges. The President of the Senate was satisfied that a breach of privilege was made and the matter was referred to the Committee of Privileges for their consideration and report.

Requests For Leave To Move The Adjournment Of The House On Definite Matters Of Urgent Public Importance
One Request

Senator Wade Mark made a request for leave to move the adjournment of the House on a definite matter of urgent public importance namely the failure of the Government to effectively address or deal with the intolerable and unprecedented rising tide of murder and homicide in the country. The President was not satisfied that this matter qualified under Standing Order 16.
