Tribute to Mr. Winston Nanan

The House paid tribute to Mr. Winston Nanan, who passed away on April 11, 2024. Mr. Nanan served as the Member for Tabaquite during the 1st Republican Parliament. A minute of silence was observed.

Government Business: Bills Second Reading
The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2024

The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. Reginald Armour, S.C., moved the second reading of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2024. Three Members made contributions before the Attorney General rose to wind up the debate. The Bill was referred to a Committee of the Whole. At third reading, a division was taken, the result of which was 21 for, 18 against, no abstentions. The bill did not receive the required two-thirds majority and was therefore not approved.
