The Vice-President granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Dr. Lenny Saith, Sen. the Hon. Jerry Narace and Sen. Michael Annisette. Mr. Foster Cummings, Mr. Joel Primus and Mrs. Parvatee Anmolsingh-Mahabir were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Saith, Narace and Annisette respectively. The President also announced the revocation of the appointment of Sen. the Hon. Bridgid Annisette-George and the appointment of Mr. John Jeremie, SC.

The Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister in the Ministry of Finance resumed his contribution (from Tuesday May 5, 2009) on the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2009. He was followed in the debate by Sen. Dr. Jennifer Kernahan and Sen. Prof. Ramesh Deosaran. A total of seven Senators made contributions on this day (13 overall) before the Minister began his wind-up. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed with amendment. At the third reading a division was taken, the result of which was 21 for, 8 against, no abstentions.
Sen. Dr. Adesh Nanan raised a Matter on the Motion for the Adjournment of the Senate, namely, the failure of the Minister of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources to appoint Honorary Game Wardens. The Minister of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources responded.
At its next sitting, the Senate will consider the Trinidad and Tobago National Steel Symphony Orchestra Corporation Bill, 2009 as well as a Motion to adopt the Report of the Special Select Committee of the Senate – The Emergency Ambulance Services and Emergency Medical Personnel Bill, 2009.
