Leave of absence was granted to Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP for San Fernando West, from Sittings of the House during the period March 22 – April 7, 2023, to Dr. Lackram Bodoe, MP for Fyzabad, from Sittings of the House during the period March 22 – 29, 2023 and to Dr. Rai Ragbir, MP for Cumuto/Manzanilla from today’s Sitting of the House.
The House paid tribute to Jarrette Narine, former Parliamentarian who served during the 4th – 8th Republican Parliament. A minute of silence was observed.
The Speaker informed of correspondence received from the President of the Senate regarding changes in membership of Joint Select Committees.

The Leader of the House, Hon. Camille Robinson-Regis, MP, moved a motion regarding the change of membership to the JSC on the Fisheries Management (No. 2) Bill, 2020. The motion was approved.
The Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Sen. the Hon. Kazim Hosein, moved a motion to approve the draft of the “Elections and Boundaries Commission (Local Government and Tobago House of Assembly) Order, 2021”. Seven members contributed to the debate on the motion. The motion was approved.
The Member for Chaguanas East, Ms. Vandana Mohit, MP, raised a matter on the adjournment namely the need for the Government to address the pressing issues related to access to medical care for young persons living with physical or developmental challenges. The Minister of Health, Hon. Terrence Deyalsingh, MP, responded.
The Member for Couva South, Mr. Rudranath Indarsingh, MP, raised a matter on the adjournment regarding the water crisis in Trinidad and Tobago. The Minister of Public Utilities, Hon. Marvin Gonzales, MP, responded.
