Leave of Absence was granted to Sen. the Hon. Dennis Moses, Senator Gerald Hadeed and Senator David Small. Mr. Ronald Huggins, Mr. Gerald Ramdeen and Mr. Justin Junkere were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Moses, Hadeed and Small respectively in their absence.
Temporary Senators, Mr. Ronald Huggins, Mr. Gerald Ramdeen and Mr. Justin Junkere took their oaths of allegiance.
Seven papers were laid in the names of the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and the Attorney General including the Privileges and Immunities [CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS)] Order, 2016. Debate began on the Strategic Srvices Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2016 which was passed in the House of Representatives on April 15, 2016 and was moved at this Sitting by the Attorney General.
Senator Daniel Solomon raised a matter on the adjournment – the failure of the Government to properly address the safety and security of the lives of state witnesses. The Minister of National Security responded.
