Leave of absence was granted to Sen. Anil Roberts, who is ill. Mr. Dominic Smith was appointed temporary Senator in his absence.

The President of the Senate raised a matter regarding the observance of standing orders 42, 51, 52 and 53 of the Senate and also gave guidance regarding greetings given on special occasions.

Seven questions qualified for oral answer. Question #91 was deferred for two weeks.
The Leader of Government Business, Sen. the Hon. Dr. Amery Browne, moved a motion that an extension be granted to the Committee appointed to consider and report on the Representation of the People (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 2020 to allow the Committee to complete its work and submit a final report by August 31, 2023. The motion was approved.
The Miscellaneous Provisions (Trial by Judge Alone) Bill, 2023 was introduced in the name of the Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. Reginald Armour.
Debate resumed on a private motion calling on the Government to reaffirm its commitment to introduce a legislative framework on Parliamentary Autonomy and to introduce in Parliament, within three (3) months, a Bill on Parliamentary Autonomy and have same referred to a Joint Select Committee of Parliament for consideration and report. Seven members contributed to the debate before the Senate was adjourned.
Sen. Wade Mark raised a matter on the adjournment regarding the sale of 36.63% of the CLICO shares in a plant in Oman called the Methanol Holding International Limited. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Hon. Brian Manning, MP, responded.
