Prime Minister’s Question Time is a feature of today’s Sitting. Twelve questions were posed to the Prime Minister by members of the Opposition before the time for Prime Minister’s Questions expired.
Three urgent questions were posed.
Eighteen questions qualified for oral answer. Questions #33 and #46 were deferred for two weeks.
Dr. Tim Gopeesingh sought leave to move the adjournment of the House on a definite matter or urgent public importance namely the fact that the health and lives of thousands in our nation are seriously endangered because of the shortage of H1N1 virus vaccines. The Speaker was not satisfied that this matter qualified under Standing Order 17.
The Finance (Variation of Appropriation) (Financial Year 2018) Bill, 2019 was introduced in the House. The Minister of Finance moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. This was agreed upon.
The Minister of Finance moved a Motion asking that the House adopt the Report of the Standing Finance Committee of the House of Representatives for the Fourth Session (2018/2019), Eleventh Parliament on the consideration of proposals for the Variation of Appropriation for the fiscal year 2018. Debate began on the motion. The motion was adopted.
The Minister of Finance moved the second reading of The Finance (Variation of Appropriation) (Financial Year 2018) Bill, 2019. Dr. Bhoendradatt Tewarie, MP, was the sole debater. The Bill was read a third time and passed.
