Leave of Absence was granted to Hon. Camille Robinson-Regis, MP for Arouca/Maloney and Hon. Shamfa Cudjoe, MP for Tobago West for today’s sitting.
Hon. Adrian Leonce, MP presented the first report of the Committee of Government Assurances and Hon. Colm Imbert, MP presented the report of the Joint Select Committee on the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property.
Two Urgent Questions were posed to the Minister of Education and the Minister of Works and Transport on the issues of security in secondary schools and completion of the installation of cable barriers on the country’s major highways. See Order Paper for details.

One request was made for leave to move the adjournment of the House on definite matters of urgent public importance namely the failure of the Government to disclose to the public the recent Petrotrin oil spill in La Brea.
Upon authorization by the Cabinet, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Marlene McDonald, MP, made a statement outlining the new policy initiatives for the construction of the affordable homes by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
According to the Standing Orders, at the second Sitting of each month, there will be a Prime Minister’s Question Time. During this Sitting, questions were posed to the Prime Minister on Foreign Direct Investment, the education system, the murder rate, the Couva Children’s Hospital, Children’s Life Fund and increase in unemployment.
This motion was moved by Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan, MP for Tabaquite, and debated.
Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan raised a motion – The apparent cessation of the work on the highway to Point Fortin and its implications arising thereof for the economy of Trinidad and Tobago as a matter on the adjournment.
Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan raised a second motion as a matter on the adjournment namely the failure of the Government to begin construction of the Brothers Road, Tabaquite Early Childhood Care and Education Centre and the apparent cessation of the construction of the Early Childhood Care and Education Centre of Sonnyram Trace.
