Leave of Absence was granted to Independent Senator H.R. Ian Roach from today’s Sitting.
The President of the Senate reminded Senators of Standing Order 42.10 “A Member shall not read his speech except with the leave of the President but he may read extracts from books or papers in support of his
argument, and may refresh his memory by reference to written notes. For this purpose he may use a computer or other electronic device, provided that such device does not, in the opinion of the Chair, disturb the proceedings of the Senate.”
The Strategic Services Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was brought from the House of Representatives and read for the first time in the Senate.

Senator Melissa V. Ramkissoon moved a motion to quickly close the gaps in our legislation in relation to penalties for the abuse and negative usage of computers, mobile devices and internet technology. View the motion here. The motion was approved.
Senator Wade Mark raised his concern on the crisis in food supplies in Trinidad and Tobago as a result of the deepening Foreign Exchange situation. Senator the Hon. Clarence Rambharat responded.
