Anita Haynes sought leave to move the adjournment of the House on a definite matter of urgent public importance namely the failure of the Government to take all necessary steps to protect women from gender-based violence being inflicted upon them resulting, in most cases, in death. The President of the Senate was not satisfied that this matter qualified under Standing Order 16.
