The Finance (Variation of Appropriation) (Financial Year 2019) Bill, 2020 was brought from the House of Representatives. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was carried.

Three urgent questions were posed. Questions 2 and 3 were answered.
Seven questions qualified for oral answer. Question #27 was deferred for two weeks.
Sen. Anita Haynes sought leave to move the adjournment of the House on a definite matter of urgent public importance namely the failure of the Government to take all necessary steps to protect women from gender-based violence being inflicted upon them resulting, in most cases, in death. The President of the Senate was not satisfied that this matter qualified under Standing Order 16.
The Leader of Government Business moved a motion that Government business take precedence at today’s Sitting. The motion was approved.
The Minister in the Ministry of Finance moved the second reading of the Finance (Variation of Appropriation) (Financial Year 2019) Bill, 2020. Debate began on the Bill. The Bill was read a third time and passed.
The Sitting concluded at 7:11 p.m. The Senate adjourned to Tuesday February 4, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.
