Leave of absence was granted to Hon. Saddam Hosein, MP for Barataria/San Juan, Hon. Sean Sobers, MP for Tabaquite and Hon. Jearlean John, MP for Couva North, from sittings of the House during the period 26-28 November, 2025. Leave was also granted to Mr. Hansen Narinesingh, MP for Claxton Bay and Mr. Hans Des Vignes, MP for Diego Martin West from sittings of the House during the period November 26-December 3, 2025. Leave of absence was granted to Hon. Pennelope Beckles-Robinson, MP for Arima from today’s Sitting.
Three questions were posed to the Prime Minister by Opposition Members. All questions were answered.
Nineteen questions qualified for oral answer. See Order Paper. Questions #12, #13 and #16 were deferred for two weeks. Eleven questions were answered before the time for questions on notice expired.
The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. John Jeremie, SC, moved the second reading of the Home Invasion (Self-Defence and Defence of Property) Bill, 2025. Debate then began on the bill. Thirteen members contributed to the debate before the wind up by the Attorney General. The bill was committed to the Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. With 23 votes for, 10 votes against and no abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.
