Leave of absence was granted to Sen. the Hon. Avinash Singh and Sen. the Hon. Dr. Amery Browne, who are out of the country. Mr. Harvey Borris and Mr. Ndale Young were appointed temporary senators in their place.
The Finance (No. 2) Bill, 2021 was brought from the House of Representatives in the name of the Minister of Finance. The Acting Leader of Government Business, Sen. the Hon. Paula Gopee-Scoon, moved that the next stage of the bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.
Sen. Jayanti Lutchmedial lodged a petition on behalf of the Soroptimist Club of Port of Spain requesting a name change to Soroptimist International of Port of Spain, by private bill. Leave was granted to proceed.
Sen. the Hon. Paula Gopee-Scoon lodged a petition on behalf of the Trinidad and Tobago Association for Retarded Children requesting a name change to Lady Hochoy Centres of Trinidad and Tobago, via private bill. Leave was granted to proceed.

The Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, moved the second reading of The Finance (No. 2) Bill, 2021. Eleven senators contributed to the debate before the Minister of Finance wound up the debate. The bill was read a third time and passed.
Sen. Jayanti Lutchmedial raised a matter on the adjournment regarding the need for the Government to implement updated security measures to protect prison officers. The Minister of National Security, Hon. Fitzgerald Hinds, MP, responded.
