Leave of absence was granted to Hon. Shamfa Cudjoe, MP for Tobago West, from Sittings of the House during the period December 10-15, 2019 and to Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, S.C., MP for Siparia and Dr. Lackram Bodoe, MP for Fyzabad from today’s Sitting of the House.

The Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) (Amendment) (No. 3) Bill, 2019 was introduced in the name of the Attorney General.
The Leader of the House moved a motion that an extension of three months be granted to the JSC on the National Statistical Institute of Trinidad and Tobago Bill, 2018 in order for the Committee to complete its work and present a final report by March 31, 2020. The motion was approved.
The Attorney General, Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, moved a motion that both The Cannabis Control Bill, 2019 and The Dangerous Drugs (Amendment) Bill, 2019 be debated together. This motion was approved.
He then moved the second reading of both bills. Debate began on the Bills. Following the debate on the bills, the Cannabis Control Bill, 2019 was referred to a Joint Select Committee established to consider and report on general merits and principles of the Bill and report by February 29, 2020. The Dangerous Drugs (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was committed to the Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. The Bill was read a third time and passed, with amendments.
