Leave of absence was granted to Hon. Major General (Retired) Edmund Dillon, MP for Point Fortin, from Sittings of the House for the period 19-25 November, 2018. Leave was also granted to Mr. David Lee, MP for Pointe-a-Pierre and Mr. Barry Padarath, MP for Princes Town, from today’s Sitting.
The Deputy Speaker informed the House of correspondence from the Vice-President of the Senate on the appointment of Mr. Paul Richards to the JSC on Social Services and Public Administration, in lieu of Dr. Dhanayshar Mahabir.
The House paid tribute to former Minister, former Deputy Speaker and former Speaker of the House, Dr. Rupert Griffith, who passed away on November 21, 2018. A minute of silence was observed.

The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2018 was introduced in the House, in the name of the Attorney General.
The Minister of Planning and Development, Hon. Camille Robinson-Regis, MP, moved the second reading of The Planning and Facilitation of Development (Amendment) Bill, 2018. Debate began on the Bill.
The Committee Stage of the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2018 was resumed. Clauses 1-4 and 6-10 were considered and approved, with amendments. The Bill was withdrawn from the Committee of the Whole and referred to a Special Select Committee (SSC) for consideration of the Report on the Bill. The SSC was mandated to submit a report by November 30, 2018.
Mr. Ganga Singh, MP raised a matter on the adjournment namely the failure of the Government to implement the recommendations of the report done by Royal Haskoning DHV on drainage of the Caroni River Basin. Sen. the Hon. Kazim Hosein, Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, responded.
Mr. Rodney Charles, MP, raised a matter on the principle of ministerial responsibility, calling on the resignation of the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs due to the matter at the OAS earlier this year. Sen. the Hon. Paula Gopee-Scoon responded.
