Leave of Absence was granted to Hon. Maxie Cuffie, MP for La Horquetta/Talparo, Ms. Nicole Ollivierre, MP for La Brea and Mr. Prakash Ramadhar, MP for St. Augustine from today’s Sitting.
Tribute was paid to Fidel Castro, former Prime Minister and President of Cuba, who passed away on November 25, 2016. A minute of silence was observed.
The Speaker announced the appointments of members to Sessional Select Committees of the House.
30 Papers were laid in the names of the Minister of Finance, Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Minister of Public Administration and Communications, Minister of Works and Transport, Attorney General, Prime Minister and Leader of the House. Papers 1-9 were referred to the Public Accounts Committee and Paper 10 was referred to the Public Accounts (Enterprises) Committee. See the Order Paper.

Mrs. Christine Newallo-Hosein made a request for leave to move the adjournment of the House on definite matters of urgent public importance namely the failure of the Government to adequately address the serious affects of severe weather on the coastal region of North East Trinidad. The Speaker was satisfied that this matter qualified for debate.
On behalf of the Cabinet, Hon. Stuart Young, MP made a statement on the Government’s re-negotiation of the Mitsubishi – Massy Natural Gas to PetroChemicals Complex (CGCL).
The Prime Minister made a statement on the Alutrint Aluminium Smelter.
