The Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Pennelope Beckles-Robinson, MP, responded to the budget presentation. Following her response, Hon. Saddam Hosein, MP, Mr. Keith Scotland, SC, MP, Hon. Ernesto Kesar, MP, Mr. Brian Manning, MP and Hon. Clyde Elder, MP added their voices to the debate. Eight more members contributed to the debate before the wind up by the Minister of Finance, Hon Davendranath Tancoo, MP. The bill was then referred to the Standing Finance Committee for consideration of the bill and estimates. The Standing Finance Committee was suspended on Saturday 18 October at 2:22 a.m. and resumed on Tuesday 21 October, 2025 (Day 1), Wednesday 22 October, 2025 (Day 2), Thursday 23 October, 2025 (Day 3), Friday 24 October, 2025 (Day 4) and Saturday 25 October, 2025 (Day 5). On Saturday 25 October, 2025, with 28 votes for, 12 votes against and no abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.
The Deputy Speaker, Dr. Aiyna Ali, MP, read a matter of privilege from the Member for Couva South on a statement released by the Opposition Leader on October 10th, which the Member for Couva South alleged, attempted to bring into disrepute the independent, democratic work of the Parliament by questioning the impartiality of the Presiding Officer. The Deputy Speaker ruled that a prima facie case had been made.
On Saturday 18 October, the House brought greetings to the nation on the upcoming celebration of Divali.
