Ms. Ramona Ramdial
Ramona Ramdial was re-elected to Parliament as an Opposition Member on September 7, 2015. She was first elected in the 10th Parliament (2010-2015) as the Member of Parliament for Couva North.
She has previously held the portfolios of Minister of State in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (23 June, 2012 – 17 June, 2015), Minister of State in the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development (27 June, 2011 - 22 June, 2012) and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Planning, Economic and Social Restructuring and Gender Affairs (28 May, 2010 - 26 June, 2011). She was a member of ten Parliamentary Committees and has debated sixteen bills in Parliament.
Ms. Ramdial is the current Director of the UNC Academy (16 September, 2011 – Present).
She is the holder of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Management and Geography from the University of the West Indies and a Diploma in Business and Computer Technology from ROYTEC.
Ms. Ramdial is a former teacher of Geography at Vishnu Boys Hindu College and an environmental activist. She was President of the Bejucal Village Council, a member of Green Peace International and member of the Anti-Smelter Group.
Her mission for Couva North is to ensure a higher standard of living for her constituents through working policies, social programs and effective local government.
