Ms. Gillian Lucky first entered Parliament as a Senator during the 5th Republican Parliament. She would later be appointed Minister in the Office of the Attorney General and Minister in the Ministry of Legal Affairs. Ms. Lucky would later contest and win the Pointe-a-Pierre constituency and thus become a member of the House of Representatives in Opposition. Ms. Lucky would hold this office until 2007.

Ms. Lucky obtained her L.L.B. from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados in 1989 where she was awarded the Therese Sylvester Award for the Most Outstanding University Student.  Ms. Lucky went on to The Hugh Wooding Law School, and after her two years there was admitted to practice at the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago in 1991.  In 1993 she became a Senior State Counsel attached to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Ms. Lucky’s litigating experience ranges from her being a Prosecutor in the Magistrates’ Court of Trinidad and Tobago to being a Junior Counsel in preliminary enquiries, trials and appeals of high profile figures such as Nankissoon Boodram (otherwise known as Dole Chadee). She has also made presentations at workshops, on topics related to criminal activity to members of the Police Service and to the Office of the Director of Personnel Administration.

Ms. Lucky is currently the Principal and a Lecturer at the Academy of Tertiary Studies.  She also tutors Landlord and Tenant at the Hugh Wooding Law School.   Along with her illustrious career in law, Ms. Lucky can boast of being the co-host of “Talk Time” on Radio 90.5FM, a weekly newspaper columnist, a former Presenter and Co-Executive Producer of the television programme, “Caribbean Tarang” and a calypsonian in her own right.

On September 8, 2014 Ms. Lucky was appointed a Judge of the High Court.
