Dr. Lennox Bernard first entered Parliament as a Temporary Independent Senator on May 23, 2011, during the 10th Republican Parliament. He was appointed to the Senate on September 1, 2012

Dr. Bernard has been a teacher at all levels of the Education system. He has served on several cabinet-appointed committees on education and was secretary/member of the National Task Force on education that published the White Paper on Education (1993-2003).
