In April 2025, Mr. Barry Padarath was elected Member for Couva South and assigned the portfolio of Minister of Public Utilities and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister. Mr. Padarath was first elected to the House of Representatives on September 7, 2015 as a Member of the 11th Republican Parliament and was re-elected in August 2020 as the Member for Princes Town in the 12th Republican Parliament.

Before entering active politics, Mr. Padarath served 4 years in the Foreign Service.

Mr. Padarath holds a B.Sc. in Government and International Relations, a Postgraduate degree in Communications, and a Diploma in Law.
