Senator the Honourable Avinash Singh

PNM
Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries

A graduate of both the Anglia Ruskin University with a Master of Business Administration (Distinction) and The University of the West Indies (St. Augustine) with a double Major in Agricultural Science and Environmental & Natural Resource Management, Senator the Honourable Avinash G. Singh was appointed an Opposition Senator in the Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago from 2013-2015. He then served as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land, and Fisheries from September 2015 – August 2020, prior to his appointment as a Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries on August 19th, 2020.

As a registered farmer in Trinidad and Tobago, Minister Singh’s innate appeal for agriculture, saw him complete the Youth Apprenticeship Certificate Programme in Agriculture (Y.A.P.A) under the then Ministry of Agriculture, Land & Marine Resources in 2007 when he was still a teenager. He has a mission to succeed and consistently thrusts himself in environments conducive to developmental growth and excellence whilst selflessly undertaking those challenging and transformative assignments which redound to sustainable national development.

Minister Singh is a devout Hindu and devoted family man. He currently resides in the agricultural hub of Chaguanas and is happily married to Ria Ragoo-Singh.
