Mr. Arthur Sanderson
Mr. Arthur Sanderson served as a Government member in the House of Representatives representing the Constituency of Fyzabad in the Third Republican Parliament. From February 08, 1988 to November 19, 1991 he served as a Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Settlements and Public Utilities under the National Alliance for Reconstruction (NAR).
Mr. Sanderson got into the arena of activism when he joined the OWTU (Oilfield Workers Trade Union) and became the Vice-President of the Fyzabad/Palo Seco branch. Prior to his entry into Parliament he also served as a County Councillor. In 1987, following the electoral victory of the NAR, he became the MP for Fyzabad . The NAR itself was an amalgamation of four different political parties (the United Labour Front, Democratic Action for Congress, Tapia House Movement and Organisation for National Reconstruction).
Born and raised in Fyzabad, Mr. Sanderson attended the Fyzabad Intermediate EC School and later pursued tertiary studies in Jamaica. He was very passionate about his community and was committed to social justice. He even stood as an independent candidate for Fyzabad in the 1991 General Election.
Mr. Sanderson held various professional portfolios including Member of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service until his resignation in 1970, Teacher, Consultant and Physical planner.
