The President granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Hazel Manning and Sen. Annette Nicholson Alfred. Mr. Foster Cummings and Mrs. Parvatee Anmolsingh-Mahabir were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Manning and Nicholson-Alfred respectively.

The President of the Senate announced the appointment of several Senators to Sessional Select Committees.

The Leader of Government Business moved a motion asking the Senate to agree to the appointment of several Opposition Senators to Joint Select Committees. Leave was granted.

The Minister of Works and Transport moved the Second Reading of the Civil Aviation (Amendment) Bill, 2010. Sen. Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan was first to enter the debate, followed by Dana Seethal, SC and Sen. Mervyn Assam. Nine members made contributions before the Minister commenced his wind up. Debate on the Bill was suspended.

At the next sitting, debate is expected to begin on the Prisons (Amendment) Bill, 2010.
