Leave of Absence was granted to Sen. the Hon. Martin Joseph. Sen. Foster Cummings and Sen. Noel Gayle were sworn in as temporary Senators replacing Sen. the Hon. Martin Joseph and Sen. the Hon. Tina Gronlund-Nunez respectively.
Two Papers were laid in the name of the Minister in the Ministry of Finance. See the Order Paper and Supplemental Order Paper for details.
Two Questions were answered (22 and 23).
All other Questions were deferred (4, 8, 9, 12, 19 and 20).
Response to Question 32 was circulated. The Leader of Government Business indicated the stage of preparation of the responses for all other questions for written answer.
Debate on the Bill resumed from Tuesday February 19, 2008. Five members spoke on the Bill before the Attorney General concluded the debate. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed without amendments. On the question that the Bill be read a third time and passed there was division of 24 for, none against and 6 abstentions.
In moving the Second Reading of the Bill, Sen. the Hon. Emily Gaynor Dick-Forde (Minister of Planning, Housing and the Environment) made her maiden contribution in the Senate. Debate was suspended during the contribution of Sen. Dr. Adesh Nanan
