The President granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Kevin Ramnarine. Mr. Kevin Bhagaloo was appointed to temporarily replace Sen. Ramnarine during his absence.

Sen. Fitzgerald Hinds moved a motion which asks the Senate to take note of the strengths and deficiencies of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and its impact and potential in the fight against crime. The Minister of National Security was the first to enter the debate followed by Sen. Dr. Rolph Balgobin and Sen. Pennelope Beckles.

The Senate adjourned to a date to be fixed. Before adjourning, greetings were extended to the Hindu community on the occasion of Divali, which will be celebrated on Wednesday October 26th, 2011. The sitting adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
