The Vice-President of the Senate, Sen. Nigel de Freitas, informed that Sen. the Hon. Christine Kangaloo is out of the country. Leave of absence was granted to Sen. Anil Roberts and Sen. Evans Welch. Mr. Harvey Borris, Dr. Tim Gopeesingh and Mr. John Heath were appointed temporary Senators in their place.
Temporary Senators, Mr. Harvey Borris, Dr. Tim Gopeesingh and Mr. John Heath, took the oath of allegiance.
The Senate paid tribute to former Senator, Mr. Christopher Thomas. A minute of silence was observed.
The Vice-President informed of correspondence received from the Speaker of the House regarding the change in membership to Joint Select Committees.
The Miscellaneous Provisions (2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Vaccination Personnel) Bill, 2021 was brought from the House of Representatives in the name of the Attorney General who moved that the next stage of the bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.

The Trinidad and Tobago Special Economic Zones Bill, 2021 was introduced in the name of the Attorney General.
The Minister of Labour, Hon. Stephen Mc Clashie, MP, moved the second reading of The Foreign Labour Contracts (Repeal) Bill, 2021. Three senators contributed to the debate before the wind up by the Minister of Labour. The bill was then committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. The bill was read a third time and passed.

Sen. Anthony Vieira raised a matter on the adjournment regarding the misperception and misapplication of mosquito spraying. The Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Sen. the Hon. Clarence Rambharat, responded.
Sen. Wade Mark raised a matter on the adjournment namely the failure of the Minister of Finance to appoint three nominees to the board of the Customs Clerks and Customs Brokers Association and the negative impact of such action on the operations of said association. The Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, responded.
