The Member for Caroni East sought leave to raise as a definite matter of urgent public importance, the need for the Prime Minister to inform the nation on the construction of the church on state lands in Guanapo Heights, Arima, reportedly on his instruction. The Speaker ruled that the matter did not qualify under this Standing Order.
The Member for Siparia raised a matter of privilege involving statements made by the Prime Minister about her during his contribution on the Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority Bill, 2010. The Speaker indicated that he would rule later on.
The Minister of Works and Transport moved the second reading of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill, 2010. The Member for Fyzabad was first to enter the debate, followed by the Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Transport and the Member for Caroni East. Eight members made contributions before the Minister of Works and Transport rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed with amendment. The Bill was then read a third time and passed.
At its next sitting the House will consider a Private Motion by the Member for Oropouche East which asks the House to condemn the government for its failure to promote decent, sustainable and productive employment. The sitting adjourned at 9:51 p.m.
