The President granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Mariano Browne, Sen. Tina Gronlund-Nunez, Sen. George Hadeed, Sen. Helen Drayton and Sen. Basharat Ali. Ms. Anwarie Ramkissoon, Mr. Joel Primus, Mr. Noel Gayle, Mrs. Parvatee Anmolsingh-Mahabir and Dr. Rolph Balgobin were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Browne, Gronlund-Nunez, Hadeed, Drayton and Ali respectively.
The Bill, which was passed in the House of Representatives on February 5, 2010 was read a first time in the name of the Minister of National Security.
One Paper was laid by the Leader of Government Business on behalf of the Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister in the Ministry of Finance and another by the Attorney General. See the Order Paper and Supplemental Order Paper.

The Attorney General moved the Second Reading of the Evidence (Amendment) Bill, 2010. Sen. Wade Mark was first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Dana Seetahal, SC and Sen. Dr. Adesh Nanan. Nine Senators made contributions before the Attorney General rose to conclude. Debate on the Bill was suspended.
At the next sitting the Attorney General is expected to conclude the Evidence (Amendment) Bill, 2010 and, time permitting, debate is expected to begin on the Civil Aviation (Amendment) Bill, 2010.
