6th Sitting of the Senate
1st Session - 12th Republican Parliament
In accordance with Standing Order 79 (2), the President of the Senate listed the appointment of Senators to Sessional Select Committees of the Senate for the 1st Session. She then informed of correspondence received from the Speaker of the House on the appointment of MPs to Joint Select Committees.

Four urgent questions were posed.
Eight questions qualified for oral answer.
The Leader of Government Business moved motions relating to the appointment of Senators to Joint Select Committees. Motions were approved.
Independent Senator Anthony Vieira moved a private motion calling on the Government to review the Trinidad and Tobago Constitution and the enshrined Service Commissions and to table in Parliament, within a reasonable time, a clear plan for the update of the Constitution and reform of the Commissions. Debate began on the motion.
Sen. Wade Mark raised a matter on the adjournment namely the need for the Government to update the Senate on the implementation of the 12.5% royalty on all upstream gas producers and the revenue realized thus far. The Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Sen. the Hon. Franklin Khan, responded.
Sen. Mark raised a second matter calling on the Government to explain the natural gas crisis arrived at between the Government negotiating team and the upstream gas producers. Sen. the Hon. Franklin Khan responded.
The Sitting concluded at 6:30 p.m. The Senate adjourned to a date to be fixed.
