Introduction Of Bills
Two Bills

Two Bills, the Purchase of Certain Rights and Validation Bill, 2011 and the Central Bank (Amendment) Bill, 2011 were introduced in the name of the Minister of Finance. The Minister sought and obtained leave of the House for the next stage of both Bills to be taken later in the proceedings.

The Purchase of Certain Rights and Validation Bill, 2011

The Minister of Finance moved the Second Reading of the Purchase of Certain Rights and Validation Bill, 2011. The Member for Diego Martin North/East was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise Development and the Member for Laventille East/Morvant. Five members made contributions before the Minister of Finance rose to conclude the debate. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed with amendments. It was then read a third time and passed.

The Central Bank (Amendment) Bill, 2011

The Minister of Finance then moved the second reading of the Central Bank (Amendment) Bill, 2011. The Leader of the Opposition was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister of Works and Infrastructure and the Member for Laventille East/Morvant. Seven Members made contributions before the Minister of Finance rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed without amendment. It was then read a third time and passed by a margin of 29 for, 9 against, no abstentions.
