The President of the Senate, Sen. the Hon. Wade Mark, made a statement on parliamentary privilege.
The President of the Senate informed of correspondence received from the Speaker of the House on the appointments of members to Joint Select Committees.
The Prime Minister’s Pension (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was brought from the House of Representatives in the name of the Attorney General, who moved that the next stage of the bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development and Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Sen. the Hon. Dr. Kennedy Swaratsingh, moved the second reading of The Prime Minister’s Pension (Amendment) Bill, 2025. Debate began on the bill. 15 Senators made contributions before the Minister of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development and Minister in the Ministry of Finance rose to conclude. The bill was then committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. With 20 votes for, no votes against and 10 abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.
Debate resumed (from June 27, 2025) on The Finance (Supplementary Appropriation) (Financial Year 2025) Bill, 2025. Four senators contributed to the debate before the adjournment of the Senate.
Independent Senator, Sen. Anthony Vieira, SC, raised a matter on the adjournment namely the provision of affordable, decent housing for our citizens, particularly the vulnerable, young and aspirational. The Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Sen. the Hon. Anil Roberts, responded.
