Requests For Leave To Move The Adjournment Of The House On Definite Matters Of Urgent Public Importance
Deaths in the San Fernando General Hospital

The Member of Princes Town North sought leave to raise the sudden recent deaths at the San Fernando General Hospital of a large number of persons, including two over the weekend, to the A-H1N1 virus. The Speaker ruled that the matter did not qualify under Standing Order 12.

Government Business: Bills Second Reading
The Property Tax Bill, 2009

Debate resumed (from Saturday October 19, 2009) on the Property Tax Bill, 2009 and the Valuation of Land (Amendment) Bill, 2009. The Minister of Legal Affairs was first to contribute, followed by the Member for Siparia and the Minister of Works and Transport. Six persons made contributions (19 over two days) before the Minister of Finance rose to wind-up. The Property Tax Bill, 2009 was considered in Committee and passed with amendments. The result of a division at third reading was 22 for, 10 against, no abstentions. The Valuation of Land (Amendment) Bill was then considered in Committee and passed with amendments.
