The Speaker granted leave of absence to the Members for Toco/Sangre Grande (28 November -8 December), Pointe-a-Pierre (28 November -15 December), Couva South (today’s sitting) and Chaguanas West (1 December – 8 December).

The Elections and Boundaries (Local Government)(Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2008 was introduced in the name of the Leader of the House, who moved that the next stage be taken later in the proceedings. Leave was granted.
The Leader of the House moved the second reading of the Elections and Boundaries (Local Government)(Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2008 to allow for Tobago House of Assembly Elections. He was followed by the Member for Fyzabad. In all three members made contributions before the Minister concluded the debate. The Bill was later passed with amendments.
At its next sitting the House will continue debate on the motion on Food Prices. Before adjourning the Speaker named the Members appointed to the Special Select Committee of the House of Representatives – The Children Bill, 2008. The House adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
