1st Session - 10th Republican Parliament
The President granted leave of absence to Sen. Prof. Patrick Watson and Sen. Faris Al-Rawi. Mr. Rabindra Moonan and Mr. Mariano Browne were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Watson and Al-Rawi respectively during their absence from Trinidad and Tobago.
The Finance (Supplementary Appropriation) Bill, 2011 and the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2011, which were passed in the House of Representatives on Friday June 3, 2011, were read a first time in the Senate in the names of the Minister of Finance and the Minister of National Security respectively.

The Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs presented the Report of the Joint Select Committee appointed to consider and report to Parliament on the Legislative Proposals to provide for Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property and the Repeal and Replacement of the Central Tenders Board Act.
Four Questions qualify for oral answer. Three Questions were answered. See the Order Paper.
The Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs moved a Motion asking the Senate to adopt the Report of the Joint Select Committee appointed to consider and report to Parliament on the Legislative Proposals to provide for Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property and the Repeal and Replacement of the Central Tenders Board Act. Sen. Pennelope Beckles was first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Helen Drayton, Sen. Dr. Rolph Balgobin and Sen. Mariano Browne. Nine Senators made contributions before the Parliamentary Secretary rose to conclude. The Motion was then approved and the report adopted.
The Minister of Finance moved the second reading of the Finance (Supplementary Appropriation) Bill, 2011. Sen. Mariano Browne was the first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Subhas Ramkhelawan and the Minister of Planning, Economic and Social Restructuring and Gender Affairs. Fifteen persons made contributions before the Minister of Finance rose to conclude. The Bill was read a third time and passed.
At the next sitting. debate is expected on the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2011. The sitting ended at 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday June 8, 2011.
